AI Designer
Senior AI Designer, with responsibility for image quality across e-commerce and advertising.
Broader art-direction scope across AI creative and the Design team's production standards.
Career progression that takes 4-5 years elsewhere can happen in 1-2 years here for high performers.
Own AI image generation for a $1Billion+ e-commerce brand. Turn commercial briefs into consistently accurate, brand-ready imagery.
We've been AI-first since December 2023: Design already has image-generation and editing tools in its stack, and new hires receive a prompt library and an AI-output validation workflow. Your judgment protects product accuracy and determines whether the creative is ready for its intended placement.

The Opportunity
You'll own AI image generation for Puffy.com, a $1Billion+ e-commerce brand, producing photorealistic hero, lifestyle and advertising imagery across e-commerce and marketing. Reporting to the UI/UX Design Lead, you'll set prompting approaches, reference workflows and production standards, apply hands-on UI/UX design to PDP and landing-page layouts, and share repeatable workflows with other designers. This is a standalone specialist role where your portfolio matters more than your years of experience.
The Problems You'll Own:
Primary: Creative freedom without product drift
Puffy's established design system and brand guidelines set the boundaries for imagery across e-commerce and marketing. Generated environments offer creative range, but the real product still has to remain accurate and recognisable in every placement. A striking image is only useful when it serves the commercial brief and works inside a page or advertisement. The challenge is making AI a dependable production capability without losing product fidelity or brand consistency.
Secondary: Individual craft that others can repeat
The wider Design team needs to benefit from the specialist's capability, not depend on a single person's ability to produce a strong image. A successful result has limited value as a production method if another designer cannot reproduce it. The challenge is turning individual expertise into transferable workflows that sustain quality and speed across the team.
Resources Provided:
You’ll have access to our latest company-provided AI tools, including ChatGPT and Claude, multiple AI agents, bots, plugins, AI projects, and automations through platforms such as n8n. You’ll also receive the department tools, relevant data, assets and specialist support needed to deliver your work. We expect you to use these resources to automate routine work and deliver high-quality results quickly.
Decision-making authority:
You own the production choices within an agreed brief; creative direction, publication and resource commitments have separate approval boundaries.
You can decide independently:
Working methods: Choose prompting approaches, reference workflows and iterations within an agreed creative brief.
Tool selection: Choose the tools best suited to the brief from the access available to you, balancing image quality, product accuracy, speed and repeatability.
Creative refinement: Select and refine generated outputs using your commercial judgment, product checks and established brand standards.
Production improvements: Organise work within agreed priorities and test low-risk workflow improvements using approved assets and existing access, without changing live creative.
Approval required:
Creative release: Align creative with Kelly, who sets the direction and quality bar, before it ships.
Publication and tests: Agree e-commerce image selection with Karly and advertising tests with your marketing partner; publication is not a unilateral decision.
Priorities and resources: Agree changes to brief priorities, new paid tools or other resource commitments with your manager before committing them.
Data and live changes: Obtain approval before sharing sensitive company material with a new tool or changing live pages, campaigns or production workflows beyond the agreed brief.

Create advertising creative: Develop and test AI-generated and AI-enhanced advertising imagery in partnership with Marketing and CRO.
Make great work repeatable and transferable: Document and share reusable prompts, reference workflows and production standards that other designers can follow to produce consistently strong work faster.
Improve creative capability: Evaluate and introduce image-generation tools and models where they materially improve image quality, product accuracy, speed or repeatability.
AI Image Design Outcomes
Production-ready creative: Personally deliver hero, lifestyle and advertising imagery primarily through AI, ready for its intended commercial placement.
Usable page layouts: Deliver PDP and landing-page layouts that work across desktop and mobile within the established design system.
Repeatable team output: Leave documented workflows and production standards that other designers can use to deliver consistent quality at pace.
Quality Standards
Product and brand accuracy: Check product fidelity, photorealistic environments and consistent Puffy brand presentation before handoff.
Placement and interface quality: Validate mobile crops, focal points and text legibility, alongside typography, visual hierarchy and clear CTAs, against the commercial brief.
Finished-asset ownership: Retain responsibility for validation, corrections and the quality of the finished creative, including AI-generated elements.
Delivery Pace
Fast turnaround: Turn work around quickly while maintaining the required product, brand and placement checks.
Early contribution: Contribute to live briefs early and use repeatable workflows to sustain high-quality delivery.
What You Bring
What you must demonstrate
AI imagery portfolio: Exceptional portfolio demonstrating commercial AI-generated imagery, particularly photorealistic product and lifestyle work.
UI/UX portfolio: Portfolio examples demonstrating hands-on PDP and landing-page design, including responsive layouts, typography, visual hierarchy and clear CTAs within an established design system.
Core AI platforms: Hands-on proficiency in both ChatGPT Images and Nano Banana for image generation, editing, iteration and creative development.
Tool judgment: Ability to choose the right tools and workflows for image quality, product accuracy, speed and repeatability. Other image-generation and editing tools are welcome where they deliver better results; Puffy will provide access to those tools.
Generation and editing control: Advanced prompt engineering and visual prompting, including reference images and multimodal inputs, together with strong image-to-image, inpainting, outpainting, compositional-control and iterative-editing workflows.
Product fidelity: Ability to place a real physical product into generated environments without losing fidelity.
Repeatability: A systematic approach that lets you reproduce a winning output on demand.
Production finishing: Advanced Photoshop, compositing and retouching capability to take AI outputs through to production-ready final creative.
Visual craft: Strong fundamentals in composition, lighting, perspective, colour, visual hierarchy and art direction.
Hands-on UI/UX: Hands-on capability in PDP and landing-page layouts, responsive design, typography, visual hierarchy and clear CTAs.
Interface judgment: Judgment for how an image performs inside a live interface, supported by portfolio examples.
Placement awareness: Working knowledge of how imagery behaves in layout: crop and focal point across breakpoints, legibility of type and calls to action placed over it, and how an asset holds at thumbnail and ad-placement sizes.
Design-system handoff: Ability to work within an established design system and brand guidelines, delivering finished layouts and assets in the formats the Design team and developers build from.
Workflow transfer: Ability to document and share repeatable AI creative workflows that other designers can use.
Reproducible documentation: Clear documentation of prompts, reference inputs, tool choices, production steps and quality checks so another designer can reproduce the approach.
Team adoption: Ability to help other designers adopt those workflows and refine the documentation based on their use.
Commercial judgment: Reads a creative brief commercially and makes the calls that serve the objective.
Commercial delivery: Delivers hero, lifestyle, e-commerce and paid creative against a brief with a stated marketing objective.
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Additional advantages
D2C and e-commerce: Experience with product and performance-marketing imagery for consumer brands.
Photography, CGI or 3D: Experience with a strong understanding of lighting, composition, materials and photorealistic product visualisation.
Formal training: Previous experience delivering training or workshops that help designers adopt AI creative tools and workflows.

Arthur Andreasyan, Puffy CEO, Founder & Forbes Council Member
Hi there,
If you're reading this, you're probably asking whether Puffy is the right place for your next chapter. I founded Puffy in 2017 after a simple question: "What would it feel like to sleep on a cloud?" That question became a business, and I wanted to build a company where ambitious people could grow with us.
That same mindset is why we became AI-first in December 2023, well before it became a standard way of working. We move quickly, stay relentless and hungry, question the usual way of doing things, and give people real ownership. We believe a focused team can outperform much larger companies. What matters here is the quality of your work, the decisions you make, the problems you solve before anyone asks, and the impact you create.
If you join us, I'll expect a lot from you, and I'll make sure you have the trust, context, and support to do meaningful work. If that kind of challenge excites you, I'd be glad to have you build Puffy with us.
Looking forward to working with you,
ArthurA
